“Unclad 2007” runs two weekends in Stanwood
The sixth annual Unclad Art show featuring works by 95 artists from around the world will run for two weekends in Stanwood at the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center. Hours are 10 am to 5 pm on March 10th - 11th, and 16th - 18th. Admission to the art show is free.
Gayle Picken of Gallery By The Bay, who organizes UNCLAD, has seen the show grow from a small local group show to a national juried exhibit that attracts artists from across the nation and as far as away as Quebec and Israel. “This year over half the artists are new to the show,” commented Picken, “and we are delighted to present a new perspective along with our existing favorites.”
Several special events have been added this year, including: a Wine Tasting to benefit the American Cancer Society, an Art Book Review from the Snow Goose Book Store, a fashion show featuring the artists’ models by Marcy’s Boutique, and a lecture by University of Washington professor Norman Lundin.
Last year, the show attracted more than 1500 visitors for the weekend. Artwork ranges from watercolors and oils to glass, wood, and bronze sculpture. Viewers will see a wide range of styles and approaches to the subject of the nude figure in art. “The variety of artwork of the show is its strength,” added Picken. “This show is arguably the largest and most diverse exhibition of Fine Art Nudes in the country.”
The Floyd Norgaard center is located at 27130 102nd Ave NW (two blocks north of SR 532). For a schedule of events and preview of the art, see http://www.uncladart.com/. Tickets for the Wine Tasting benefit can be purchased in advance by visiting Gallery By The Bay or by calling (360) 629-4297.
