Life is Better with Art ...
Some come to find the perfect piece of art for their home. Others arrive to take an art class. Some people say they just needed a break from their day to a look at beautiful things. Whatever your reason for stopping in, a visit to Gallery by the Bay is sure to provide fresh ideas, new connections, and plenty of inspiration.
Our mission is to make the world a better place by bringing inspiration,
creativity, friendship, and joy to our community.
Through art shows, classes, community events, and online, we provide a
venue for artists to make a living and for people of all walks of life
to bring the beauty and energy of art into their lives.
| In June of 2006, Gayle Picken opened Gallery by the Bay in downtown
Stanwood's historic east end. She ran a part-time gallery on Camano
Island for several years before moving to Stanwood. Since then, the gallery has evolved to include an art classroom with a
variety of classes, a gift shop featuring hand made items by local
artists, a wide range of fine art including paintings, photography,
glass, ceramics, and jewelry, and a brand new section for resale
consignments.
"It's so great to watch people come in and be moved by a piece of
art," says Gayle. "The gallery provides a place for the community to
connect through art. When people visit, they may meet an interesting
artist or collector, or discover an art class going on. And of course
we're always hanging new art ... there is lots of great energy here."
The gallery hosts several special exhibits each year, including the
annual UNCLAD art show in March, a ceramic show called "All Clay" in
April, a juried landscape show in the fall, and new this January, the
first ever Pacific Northwest Abstract show.
Gallery by the Bay is located at 8700 271st NW in downtown Stanwood
across from the Amtrak station. The class schedule and a preview of the
art are online.
Running an art gallery is a labor of love, and Gayle and the staff and volunteers
truly believe that Life is Better with Art! Please stop in for a visit! |

 | Hey Gayle, Did not find a Glass Quest clue ball at your gallery but thoroughly enjoyed hunting there -- got so caught up looking at the art work that I forgot about the hunt at times -- and your hiding ability is totally awesome!!! Thank you. | -- Laurel Cordier, 2/28/11
