| Nuno Felted Scarf with Chris Wood
Date: Friday, Feb 3 Time: 10 am to 2 pm Cost: $35 to register, plus $25 materials fee payable to instructor
Description: I love scarves. If you do too, join me for this one day workshop and learn the versatile art of Nuno felting. Using wet felting techniques, we will adhere wool fibers to a silk base to create a soft, warm and beautiful wearable art piece which can be as simple or outlandish as you desire. The Nuno process you learn can be applied to a wide variety of projects and will include experimenting with resists to form pockets. All materials needed will be provided.
About the Instructor: Chris has been playing with wool and fabrics for 20 years and designing and sewing children’s clothing for the past 5. She currently teaches Fiber Arts in the Anacortes Local-Artist-in-the-Schools Program.
She fell in love with felting through art projects her kids made in a Waldorf kindergarten, a curriculum rich in handwork. During the 6 months she lived with her family in Austria, the local craft shop was a treasure trove of felting supplies and projecting books which inspired seasonal decorations for their home away from home. Relishing the tactile nature of wet felting and the approachability of the craft for all ages and abilities, she feels it is impossible not to end up with something wonderful when working with beautiful wool rovings.
