Tom Jensen show Opens Sept. 12th
Known for his unique colorful figurative paintings, artist Tom Jensen has won awards for his work, been featured in International Artist Magazine, and recently was selected to jury the Pastel Society of America’s 2009 art competition.
On September 12th, Gallery by the Bay presents Tom Jensen’s latest series of paintings and etchings in a show titled “Live, Laugh, Love”.
The series of 25 etchings and 10 paintings are based on drawings Tom made of the Warner farm near Lowell, WA where Tom lives and works. “I have driven past the Warner Farm many times over the past 30 years and thought one day I’d like to set down a suite of etchings about the place,” commented Tom.

In this series of etchings, Tom shares many points of view of the farm: from scenic overviews to close-up details.
Since many of our visitors are unfamiliar with the etching process, I asked Tom if he would give us a demonstration. View the following video to see how Tom makes his etchings:
The paintings in the show feature the people at the farm–the owners Steve and Jane Warner, their right hand man Juan and his children. Tom added “Steve and Jane Warner are warm and generous couple who gave me free reign to come and go as I pleased and draw whatever I chose. I guess one comes to know and appreciate the things we touch, but it wasn’t untill I started drawing the little girls that I began to connect with the farm. They brought everything to life.”
I hope you can join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, Sept. 12th from 6 pm to 9 pm. And if you miss the opening, we’ll have the show up through the end of September.
A preview of the art will be available here online on Sept. 11th.
See you soon!
